The Benefits of Underfloor Heating

Why invest in underfloor heating?

There are plenty of reasons why you should, as it’s not the luxury you might think. There’s nothing decadent about underfloor heating because there are so many benefits, saving money on heating bills being one of them. We’d like to dispel some of the myths around underfloor heating installations and explain to you some of the many benefits and good reasons why you should invest in underfloor heating, we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Underfloor heating is becoming increasingly popular.

To begin with, underfloor heating carries heat all the way from the floor to the roof so you have warmth and an even heat all around you, this means you get a nice even temperature within a room without it getting too hot. This is good because you can set it so that once you reach a certain temperature it can go off, so you don’t waste any energy.

More space and saving energy.

Due to the lower temperatures needed to heat an entire room you’ll find that underfloor heating, after the initial investment will cost you less in energy. You’ll also have more space, because without the wall radiators you can put something else there instead such as a bookshelf or a piece of art. You can use the space well and perhaps move furniture around so there’s more space at the centre of the room with large pieces closer to the walls.

The even distribution of heat means the air is fresher and better circulated.

The continuous flow of air is healthier and less likely to feel as suffocating as electric or gas heaters. There’s nothing more uncomfortable than breathing in stale air.

Warmth and Comfort

Underfloor heating provides comfort for your feet, especially in the bathroom after you’ve come out of the bath or shower. If you have underfloor heating in other rooms, you’ll be able to walk around in your bare feet, even in freezing temperatures. You’ll find that a single unit can heat a larger area than a single radiator can, at much lower temperatures, so saving on your heating bills is another benefit. Because the heating comes up from the floor, the room is still warm even when someone opens a window or door.

Increase Property Value

You may not be aware but underfloor heating could increase the value of your property too. As part of the fixtures and fittings, you’ll find that underfloor heating will help sell your home should you decide to place it on the market in the future. At the moment, you may find there aren’t many that many houses with it because although it’s gaining popularity it’s still a novelty in some places.

Different types of underfloor heating.

There are two ways to have your underfloor heating, either electric or water based. The first one is a dry system and the water one is normally referred to as a ‘water system.’ Discuss with your installer which one you think is best for your home as they will be able to advise you. Remember that it’s important your home is well insulated if you decide to go ahead with underfloor heating so consider this before going ahead.
